The School of Fine Arts Index provides a glimpse at the work of artists holding fellowships at the American Academy in Rome from 2008 to the present. These include recipients of the Rome Prize in the disciplines that comprise the School of Fine Arts (architecture, design, historical preservation and conservation, landscape architecture, literature, musical composition, and visual arts) and Italian Fellows in the Arts. Over the course of the year, the Academy community has been enriched by the presence of many other artists: Residents of the American Academy in Rome, Affiliated Fellows from England, the Netherlands, Russia, and the United States, and Visiting Artists from around the world.
The School of Fine Arts Fellows participate in a wide variety of events - exhibitions, screenings, readings, concerts, lectures, and public conversations - at the Academy and elsewhere. The AAR has also collaborated fruitfully with other institutions and organizations, including, in Rome, numerous foreign academies, Contemporanea/Musica Per Roma (Auditorium Parco della Musica), The Road to Contemporary Art, Inarch/ACER, Casa dell'Architettura, Casa delle Letterature, and FontanonEstate. The AAR has collaborated with private art galleries such as Galleria Alessandro Bagnai (Florence) and Galleria Massimo De Carlo (Milan). European partners include the American Academy in Berlin and the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic.
