I worked on two projects while in Rome. First, I completed final revisions for One Hundred Apocalypses and Other Apocalypses. The video here is of me reading two microfictions from that book. Leonid Tsvetkov (Mondriaan Fonds/ Dutch Affiliated Fellow) shot the video of me in my study at the Academy. You can hear the birds out the window. The bulk of my time here has been spent drafting my next novel The Swank Hotel, and I’ve recorded aspects of the process of working on it here on my website.

Lucy Corin lives in San Francisco and is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Davis. She is the author of the short story collection The Entire Predicament (Tin House Books) and the novel Everyday Psychokillers: A History for Girls (FC2). The collection One Hundred Apocalypses and Other Apocalypses is forthcoming from McSweeney’s Books.
